A domain is the unique, human-readable address for a website (e.g., google.com), while a website is the collection of files and content (webpages, images, etc.) that live on a web server. You can register a domain without a website, but a website needs a domain name to be found online and web hosting to store its files.
Domain Name (The Address)
What it is: Your website's unique name on the internet, like a street address for a house.
It has 2 elements, the actual domain name, the part that you create (eg: craftingcourses, or rachelrealestate, and the extension, which is the part that comes after the dot. The most common extension is .com. The domain name is usually 'rented' for 1 year, or multiple years, and when you registered a domain name it means that you have exclusive use of that specific domain name (eg: craftingcourses.com or rachelrealestate.net) for that period of time.
Website (The Content & Structure)
What it is:
A collection of web pages, text, images, and other files that are hosted on a web server.
How it works:
It requires web hosting, where the server physically stores your website's files.
Example:
The actual content you see when you visit a URL, such as the different articles and images on Google.com.
It requires a web hosting provider to store and serve the website's files.
Analogy
The domain name is the address of your house.
The website is the house itself, with its rooms and contents.
Web hosting: is the land your house is built on.
